Dari Meja Exco Keusahawanan : Final Exam, DO OR DIE.

“I just came back from the library to find out that the whole block was empty. Where is everyone I asked myself. All the doors are shut. No one was around. It was like in one of those scary movies where there’s a neglected hostel, and a group of brave boys going in and no one comes out alive. “This can’t be it! Am I in a movie?” Suddenly, out of nowhere, I heard people whispering. “Oh my God, is someone trying to bomoh me?” said my inner self shaking and hiding behind the bushes in my mind.

That sound kept on going. I even heard someone saying “according to section 3.” What is the ghost doing with an act? Are there lawyers in ghost town? My palms are all sweaty. Felt like running but then, I heard someone screaming, “ahhhh dakwat habis!” Oh that was a relief. The block was never empty. Everyone was just in his or her room studying because final exam is just around the corner. And the whispering were just some students memorizing their notes.”

I am pretty sure that most of you had gone through this situation except for the whole dramatic empty block thingy. What I meant about “gone through” is based on the situation where everyone is on their study mode yet you are still in your “you-only-live-once” zone then you get all stressed out because you have not started anything. This happens to a lot of students but unfortunately; some think that committing suicide would lessen their burden.

Students like us should never give up because we never know what’s waiting for us at the end of the tunnel. If we stop now, we will never know what tomorrow brings, for tomorrow is always a surprise and it is a gift for us from Allah s.w.t. Allah sent us to this world for a reason and that reason does not include committing suicide or consuming alcohol whenever you want to just because it makes you “feel calmer” and “numbed”.

A story about Thomas Edison inspired me since I was a kid and it should do the same to you too. He tried making the light bulb everyday and he only got it right after the 99th time. Now ask yourself, what if he stopped at the 98th? I can assure you that; it could have been someone else. It could have been you or me but it was Thomas Edison because he never stopped trying and never stopped believing that he could do it.

It is very sad to know that a lot of students ended their life because they didn’t want to suffer the burden anymore. In England, there is a guy named Toby whom killed himself because he didn’t have the money to pay for his tuition and because of that he became stressed about his studies and that led to suicide.

An article form The Gurdian stated that, The number of students who took their own lives in England and Wales rose by 50% between 2007 and 2011 – from 75 to 112 – despite the number of students as a whole rising by only 14%.

This is just one of a thousand example. Other than that, In Malaysia, report on government hospital admissions for attempted suicides and deaths as a consequence of this showed constant rise from the year 1999 to 2007. Patients’ ages range mostly from 12 to 24 and female numbers are more than males. Based on the suicide prevention website, it was said that, over one million people die by suicide worldwide each year. The global suicide rate is 16 per 100,000 populations. On average, one person dies by suicide every 40 seconds somewhere in the world. 1.8% of worldwide deaths are suicides. Global suicide rates have increased 60% in the past 45 years. According to The Star, on the other hand, the suicide rate is on the rise in Malaysia, with more than 1,000 people taking their own lives over a three-year period.

Committing suicide is not the main subject for this post. What I’m trying to highlight here is how people would end their lives to stop struggling. It is as if you are thrown into the deep sea, and instead of struggling to breathe, you just stopped trying and let yourself drown. We all know that not everyone could think alike but we can change for a better future. Other than that, committing suicide, consuming alcohol, stress, depression, these can all be prevented if all of these people have faith. We have to hold on to faith when it comes to living in this world because if it were the other way around, then people wouldn’t know what is the purpose for us living.

Basically what I am trying to say that, never stop trying. People commit suicide because they are tired of living and facing the same problem everyday. If one thing is making you mediocre, then try doing it in a different way. There are 146 answers and ways to all questions and actions in the world. We just need to think outside the box. Final exams are difficult. I mean who enjoys tests and exams? But if you strive, then you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I am ordinary but I am working my way to be extraordinary because that is what lawyers were born to be. EXTRAORDINARY.

Let us do our best and fight to our last breath. Think about Allah, our parents, our teachers, our siblings and ourselves. :)

p/s: Banyak banyak berdoa agar kita semua boleh Berjaya di dunia dan juga akhirat. Insyaallah :D
